Community Research

Birth Defect Research for Children can help your community evaluate increases in birth defects that may be linked to environmental toxins. We have assisted the community of Dickson, Tennessee in identifying a cluster of cleft palate cases associated with a solvent leaking into their water supply from an old landfill. Our registry questionnaire is also being used by families in Lake Charles, Louisiana to determine whether there is an increase in babies born without brains (anencephaly). If you are concerned about increases in birth defects or developmental disabilities in your community, please send us an e-mail (staff@birthdefects.org).

If you experience any problems with the site, please contact us at staff@birthdefects.org.
